The Golden Daughter, 2021
Khandakar Ohida
Photo colour and gold leaf foil on canson paper
This series of work address the idea of women’s spaces and how they have been ignored in the context of treated as the second sex in our societies. This work builds a narrative of a fictional world which shows baby girls being prized, but ironically women tend to be treated as a burden in real society. The story metaphorically attempts to depict the ugly truth of female foeticide in our country.
