HOW WE WORK
The Vanishing Girls Campaign aims to join like-minded forces working in this area in bringing a gradual change to the rigid patriarchal set up of the country that has a strong preference for the male child. The Campaign has three focus areas:
Vanishing Girls Campaign advocacy and networking efforts aims to uphold and implement the existing policies and laws against the practise of sex selection in India. Vanishing Girls Campaign engages with policy makers and builds relationships with key state and national level networks & alliances, civil society stakeholders to address the issue of sex selection and focuses on the effective implementation of the PCPNDT Act.
Vanishing Girls Campaign engages in conducting programmes , conferences, consultations and seminars for the government authorities, civil society stakeholders, medical fraternity, anganwadi workers, judiciary and communities to mobilize them and through awareness and press for the accountability to stop sex selection in India and advocate for the effective implementation of the PCPNDT Act,
Vanishing Girls Campaign provides pro-bono legal services to women in distress due to coercion from their marital families for sex determination, sex selection. We aim to provide our free legal services to women who have or are facing domestic violence on account of not being able to give birth to sons as well as for reasons of dowry.
